Arsenal are expected to be busy in the next two days leading to the transfer deadline day on Wednesday.

Calum Chambers is expected to join Middlesbrough on loan and to be unveiled today at Riverside. Middlesborough were in the market for a defender and they are getting a good one, late in the market.

The 21-year-old started this season brightly, scoring a header against Liverpool in a 4-3 loss against the Reds. Personal terms are yet to be agreed between the two parties but are expected to reach to a conclusion today.

Chambers was expected to play a role this season for the Gunners, but with the arrival of Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia, the youngster won't get many opportunities this campaign.

Wenger has stated that he is surplus to demands at the Emirates, as Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi are ahead of him in the pecking order but maintains that the 21-year old has a future at the club.

Chambers has travelled north for a medical at Middlesbrough today and was also linked with a move to Hull City earlier in August.

Middlesbrough have settled themselves well into life in the Premier League as they are unbeaten in the league with one win and two draws. Chambers will be the tenth signing for Aitor Karanka's side, and have done some commendable business this summer.

The likes of Alvaro Negredo, Viktor Fischer, Victor Valdes and Gaston Ramirez have been signed by Boro this campaign.

Chambers can play as a centre back, right back and also as a defensive midfielder, and his versatility will be useful for the Premier League newboys.

Chambers joined Arsenal for around £16 million in 2014 and has played 59 times for the Gunners. He may go on to become an important player for Aitor Karanka’s side, who would hope to keep Middlesbrough in the top division.

The Gunners have completed their transfer business, with deals being completed for Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez, while Middlesbrough were linked with a move for Charles N'Zogbia.

After the international break, Chambers could start for his new club in a home encounter against Crystal Palace while Arsenal welcome Chambers’ old club, Southampton.
