AHMEDABAD: A group of Jain community members approached Ellisbridge police station on Monday afternoon to hand over a memorandum against two Twitter users for posting indecent comments against Jain monk Tarunsagar Maharaj.
According to an application of complaint filed by Kaushik Jain, a resident of Usmanpura, Twitter users - Vishal Dadlani and Tehseen Poonawalla - had posted tweets on the microblogging site after the Jain monk's lecture at Haryana legislative assembly recently in which they had used derogatory words and indecent images.
The application demanded action against the users who had posted the objectionable tweets.
Dadlani, a famous music director, had later apologized for his tweet on the platform.
City mayor Gautam Shah and Ellisbridge MLA Rakesh Shah were present with the Jain leaders. Rakesh Shah told TOI that the action has hurt the religious sentiments of the Jain communty and thus, they have asked the police to take action against the accused.
Ellisbridge police station inspector B S Rabari could not be contacted despite several attempts.
