Hubballi: While various organizations observe the first death anniversary of M M Kalburgi on Tuesday, a publication house will mark the day by releasing three books on the scholar.
The Kannada books published by Lingayat Adhyana Samsthe include a collection of articles in Marathi translated by Sarjoo Katkar. The other ones are on Kalburgi's life is written by Ramakrishna Marathe and the scholar's relationship with the publication house authored by Prakash Girimallanavar.
Samsthe secretary, Shivanagouda Goudra told TOI that Kalburgi was associated with the organization since 1975 and lent an intellectual touch to the mutt.

"Under his guidance, the Samsthe published about 350 books advocating the teachings of Basavanna and sharanas of 12th century. Kalburgi was instrumental in developing Samsthe as a representative of book culture. He always upheld Kannada language and social values of sharanas," he said.
Katkar recalled the response in Maharashtra when Kalburgi was assassinated. "All leading Marathi dailies, including 'Maharashtra Times', published editorials on August 31, 2015, a day after the assassination and carried special features on his life in the Sunday supplements on September 6, 2015. I collected 140 articles and finally chose 40 for this book 'Marathi Kalburgi'. The book also contains an article published in 'Saamna' by Shiva Sena MP Sanjay Raut," he said.

Marathe said that his book "Kannadada Mahamarga MM Kalburgi" features the scholar's early, educational, research and literary life. The last chapter "Kalburgi Maarge" includes quotes by other writers and scholars," he stated.
Girimallanavar said that he has elaborated Kalburgi's association with Lingayat Adhyayana Samsthe.
