Visakhapatnam: The city of destiny has produced many actors and filmmakers. Actor Saripalli Satish is one of them. But what sets him apart from others is besides acting in street plays, theatre, short films and mainstream Telugu movies, he keeps taking up social and environmental causes.
A passion for acting since childhood had prompted him to explore this form of art.
"I was extremely interested in acting and to explore my abilities, I started taking part in dramas and street plays. I acted in almost 30 street plays in National Service Scheme (NSS) camps during my college days. These plays were basically message-oriented for social awareness programmes such as those about alcohol abuse and HIV/AIDS," said Satish, who is a diploma holder in Electronics and Communication Engineering.
However, his stint with short films and Telugu film industry commenced in 2015. "I never had any background in the world of films nor did I know anyone personally. After struggling for a while in Hyderabad, I did my first film 'Nenu Sailaja' as a character artist. Then, I got a chance to act in some other films including 'Aa Mugguru, 'Ninne Korukunta,' 'Nenu Vadukadhu,' 'Deal with Dhanalakshmi' and a recent project named where I perform in the lead role in 'Kalaaya Tasmai Namaha,' which is slated for release in the first week of September," he said.
Speaking about the specialty of Rakesh Reddy directed Kalaaya Tasmai Namaha, Satish claimed that it's the first film in the world to be shot in slow motion. The entire one-and-a-half hour film is without dialogues except voiceover in the beginning. "The film depicts the difference between dreams and aspirations of the characters and how time shapes the reality. The artists are all new from Vizag and hails from the genre of short films.
Besides films, Satish is also an enthusiastic member of India Youth for Society (IYFS) and has participated in their various programmes such as anti-plastic campaign, save water campaign and those promoting road safety. He also served in key posts with the organisation Junior Chambers International (JCI).
