Rewari, August 29

Superintendent of Police (SP) Sangeeta Kalia has constituted a special team to check cattle smuggling in the district.

On the other hand, residents of Bolni village have demanded a high-level probe into the brutal killing of a cow. In a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister, the villagers alleged that at the behest of an influential resident of the village, some persons first broke horns of the cow and then hit her with a tractor on August 10. Even, they dragged the cow by tying its legs with the tractor. The cow succumbed to injuries on August 14, they said.

They alleged that police had booked two labourers under relevant sections the IPC and the Cow Protection Act, but shielded the main accused by concealing facts. However, the police rubbished the allegations and said that fair investigation was done into the matter.

Meanwhile, the SP said: “Since cow smugglers have become a challenge for the police. We have constituted a special team headed by ASI Sarjeet Singh.”

The SP said any person could give information about the smugglers on mobile phone numbers 7056666106 and 8053244545. “Swift action will be taken on the complaint while name of the informer will be kept secret,” she added.

Notably, Raj Singh, a constable, was mowed down by cattle smugglers at a naaka near the Rajesh Pilot Chowk here on April 11.
