Badaun case: Driver’s kin allege inaction
Noida: Around 200 residents of Lakhnavli village of Greater Noida protested outside the SSP office in Surajpur on Monday morning alleging police inaction in the Badaun accident case.
Residents of Nawada village, Raje Bhadana, his wife Dharmavati, daughter Preeti, son Lalit and relatives Sheetal, Rajender and Priti had rented Maruti Eeco, being driven by Ompal Singh, to visit a shrine in Badaun along with a local tantric, Saleem alias Saleemuddin.

Allegedly, the car fell into the Ganga canal in Badaun on August 26.
The bodies of Raje, Dharmavati and Priti were fished out of the canal, while Lalit, Sheetal and Rajender were found unconscious at a roadside eatery near the spot. Initially, Raje’s daughter Preeti, Saleem, and Ompal had gone missing. However, Saleem’s body was recovered on Saturday some 8 km from the canal.
“On August 25, Ompal’s vehicle was booked by Ved Nagar, who lives in our village, for Raje and family. He hasn’t returned since then,” Ompal’s brother Jagdish said. “His wife Asha has not eaten since Ompal went missing. We want the police to find him as soon as possible,” Jagdish said.
The protesters met SP (RA) Abhishek Yadav, who assured them of a speedy probe.
