Dumka: Welfare minister Louis Marandi defended her government against the accusation of it being indifferent about setting up a high court bench in Dumka. The people of Santhal Pargana have been demanding the bench for a long time.
Louis distributed copies of different letters, including the one written to the Union law ministry in February last year for further initiatives on the high court bench here.

"I will discuss the matter with the chief minister so as to get rid of the prevailing impasse and take up the matter with the Centre," Marandi said adding the high court bench in Dumka would be a reality during the tenure of this government.
Marandi also took the opportunity to grill the opposition parties particularly against the JMM for what she said 'misleading' the innocent tribals on the issue of the amendment of tenancy acts.
"There is no proposal in the amendment mentioning the transfer of ownership of land of the CNT and SPT acts as is being propagated by the opposition parties," Louis said adding the move was aimed at the development of the raiyats themselves by providing them more stake.
Louis also displayed copies of the statement of the leader of opposition Hemant Soren's statement given during in which he necessitated the amendment in the tenancy acts.

Godda BJP MP had recently told the media that there was no pending proposal regarding the issue before the Union law ministry.
Dubey had actually referred to the reply of the union law ministry given in the parliament in connection with the setting up of the high court bench in Dumka the proposal for which was approved by the state assembly right after formation f the Raghubar Das government.
Dubey's 'revelation' however sparked panic among the lawyers' frater
nity as well as common people across santhal pargana causing disrepute to the state government for being not serious towards the issue.
