AHMEDABAD: Former IPS officer and accused in Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case, DG Vanzara, claimed that Jodhpur jail officials did not allow him to meet his guru Asaram, who is lodged in the Jodhpur jail.
Asaram has been jailed for alleged sexual assault on a minor girl. Vanzara claimed that the Jodhpur jail authorities had first granted him the permission to meet Asaram and that is why he went to Jodhpur.
He claimed that he was scheduled to meet Asaram in jail on Sunday. "On Sunday I reached Jodhpur jail premises and completed the formalities of registration," he said. "However after that the jail authorities suddenly told me that as another person had met Asaram earlier this week I will not be allowed in." According to Vanzara, jail officials told him that undertrials are allowed to meet visitors once a week. Two cases of rape have also been registered against Asaram and his son Narayan Sai for allegedly raping two Surat sisters.
