Andrea Belotti scored a hat-trick and missed a penalty as Torino cruised to a 5-1 victory over Bologna in Serie A.

The 22-year-old, who has just been called up the Italy squad for the first time, scored either side of Saphir Taider's equaliser to give his side a half-time lead.

Goals from Josef Martinez and Daniele Baselli put the result beyond doubt before Belotti, who also missed a penalty last weekend, saw his spot-kick saved by Antonio Mirante with six minutes remaining.

He still had time to complete his treble and tapped in from close range five minutes later to seal his side's first win of the season.

Kevin Strootman scored for the first time in more than two and a half years before Roma squandered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at Cagliari.

The injury-ravaged Dutch midfielder, who was last on the scoresheet against Livorno in January 2014, smashed home via the underside of the crossbar to put the Giallorossi in control at the Stadio Sant'Elia after Diego Perotti opened the scoring from the penalty spot.

Former Italy international striker Marco Borriello, who earlier hit a post, halved the deficit with 56 minutes played when he tapped home, before Marco Sau snatched a point for his team two minutes from time.

Mauro Icardi's headed equaliser gave Frank de Boer his first point as Inter boss as they rescued a 1-1 draw at home to Palermo.

The Argentina international striker nodded Antonio Candreva's cross into the left side of the goal with 18 minutes left at the San Siro to prevent de Boer, who arrived from Ajax in the summer, seeing his side slip to successive defeats.

Palermo defender Andrea Rispoli had threatened to upset the home crowd when his deflected drive from the edge of the box beat stranded Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic to put the away side ahead three minutes after the break.

Brazilian Felipe put Udinese on course for victory over Empoli. The defender stabbed home at a corner inside three minutes before Stipe Perica sealed a 2-0 win in injury time after Vincent Laurini was sent off for the visitors.

Atalanta were also reduced to 10 men as they surrendered the lead to lose 2-1 at Sampdoria. Franck Kessie gave the away side the lead but Fabio Quagliarella equalised with a penalty before Edgar Barreto headed the winner after Carlos Carmona was dismissed for two yellow cards.

Leonardo Pavoletti scored twice as Genoa consigned promoted Crotone to back-to-back defeats.

Raffaele Palladino put Crotone ahead in the first half but Serge Gakpe and Pavoletti's double gave the visitors a 3-1 victory as they continued their 100 per cent start to the season.

Elsewhere, Carlos Sanchez scored the winner on his full debut as Fiorentina beat Chievo 1-0 and goals from Gregoire Defrel and Domenico Berardi - prior to Rey Manaj's consolation - gave Sassuolo a 2-1 victory over Pescara.
