LUDHIANA: A day after the president of a gurdwara and his brother were shot dead by a rival group over presidentship at Chakkar village in Jagraon, police, on Sunday, arrested the second accused. Meanwhile, villagers are waiting for things to settle before electing the new president.
SSP, Ludhiana (Rural) Upinderjeet Singh Ghuman said on Sunday, they arrested another accused, Inderjeet Singh alias Gurri of the same village while one of the accused, Buta Singh was arrested on Saturday.
He said raids are being conducted in Jagraon, Moga and neighbouring villages to arrest the rest of the accused. Police said they have recovered a motorcycle used by the miscreants to escape.
Hira Singh, 45, president of gurdwara Gurusar and his brother Balvir Singh, constable in the Punjab police posted at Raikot police station died while the injured included Balvir's son Gurwinder Singh, Bir Singh, Gurtej Singh (sword injury) and Guramrit Singh, (bullet injury) were injured when the two groups allegedly shot at each other.
