Haridwar, August 28
City legislator Madan Kaushik today welcomed the newly-appointed leaders of the BJP divisional peasant unit cell at his office.
Ajit Kumar has been appointed Saptrishi peasant division president, Suraj Malhotra general secretary and Akshay Sharma has been selected Kankhal peasant division cell president.
He hoped that these office-bearers will play their organisational role effectively. “Every worker is vital in strengthening the party. Assembly elections are nearing, so all the party cells should work with dedication for the BJP. Our identity is due to party, so it’s our duty to ensure that maximum party candidates win the elections,” said Kaushik, a three-time legislator.
All four seats in the city periphery — Haridwar City, Haridwar Rural, Ranipur-BHEL and Jwalapur — are needed to be retained for which party workers should reach out to voters and apprise them of the development works carried out by the legislators and the Central Government.
BJP divisional president Anirudh Bhatti said victory in the 2017 Assembly election should be the only mission of the party workers.
BJP district vice-president Vikas Tiwari said more leaders of the rival party would join the BJP soon as the Congress was a “sinking ship”. “The Bahujan Samaj Party, the Uttarakhand Kranti Dal, the Samajwadi Party and the communist parties have lost their credibility among voters,” he said.
Traders Rajendra Vadhawan, Anupam Tyagi, Somi and Kamal Khadka joined the party on the occasion.
BJP activists Nathi Ram Prajapati, Bhagirath Prajapati, Sandeep Goswami, Vineet Jolly, Kamini Sadana, Naresh Sharma, Dr Harshwardhan Jain and Sangeeta Gupta were also present.
