Congress has sought a CBI inquiry into the appointment of additional managing director of Hartron.

“The appointment cannot stay for a single day. Once the process is flawed and illegal then the result naturally has to go,” said Randeep Surjewala, incharge communications, All India Congress Committee at a press conference Sunday. The Indian Express had on August 21 highlighted how, in order to implement the orders of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, the government created the post and then selected CM’s nominee Dhammapal Chawhan to it.

At a press conference, Surjewala questioned, “If the Chief Minister of the state is going to indulge in rank favouritism to appoint his cronies in public appointments by negating every rule in the book, how can the youth of Haryana expect justice and fair play?”

Surewala also said the charges of bungling and malfeasance in recruitment of 5,000 constables of Haryana Police have put a serious question mark on the credibility and neutrality of Khattar government, Staff Selection Commission and the entire police hierarchy. He said there were no basic facilities like food, toilets, water and lodging arrangements, during the recruitment of constables.

“Drugs and intoxicants ruled the roost during the entire process of police recruitment at Kurukshetra. Two candidates lost their lives during the recruitment process. As many as 397 candidates were admitted to government hospital seeking treatment for use of intoxicants or performance enhancing drugs. Thousands sought treatment from private doctors and hospitals. This proves that an organised drug mafia was operating under the nose of the government,” he said.

Festive offer

Surjewala said the Congress demands that Khattar government present a white paper on the state of employment in government, PSUs and private sector with a time bound framework for filling up vacant posts.

He further demanded that appointment must be given to 9500 JBT teachers and 2600 computer teachers. The government should place in public domain the numbers and details of all organised drug gangs and individuals.
