Hamirpur, August 28

Only a CBI inquiry into the working of the Irrigation and Public Health (IPH) Department will expose the truth in the water tanks cleaning in the state.

This was stated by HPCC spokesperson Deepak Sharma at a press conference here.

The spokesman was referring to the recovery of the skeletal remains of four-year-old Yug Gupta from a water tank in Shimla. Three persons were arrested for kidnapping and killing the child and they were sent to judicial custody by a local court for 14 days.

He said he had the highest regard for Irrigation and Public Health Minister Vidya Stokes and consider her as the most honest politician but unfortunately the department was being run by a contractor mafia enjoying the patronage of the people sitting at highest positions in the state Congress committee.

He alleged that the minister could have set a precedent by tendering her resignation.
