Cabinet to take call on Spinfed future: Kataria
JAIPUR: As a step towards disinvestment of perennially loss-making state enterprise in the cooperative sector, the Rajasthan Rajya Sahakari Spinning and Ginning Mills Federation Ltd (SPINFED), the cabinet subcommittee under home minister Gulab Chand Kataria has asked the labour department to identify the vacancies available in the government to accommodate 2,600 employees on reverse deputation according to their qualification.

Kataria said the next cabinet meeting would decide the future of the organisation.
The committee has also directed the finance department to suggest ways to clear the dues of the employees before taking a final decision on the fate of the organization. According to estimate, about Rs 9 crore is due to the employees under the head of salary and allowances.
SPINFED is a state government undertaking in the co-operative sector. It started its operations in April 1993, bringing under one roof four distinct co-operative spinning mills in the textile sector - Rajasthan Co-operative Spinning Mills Ltd, Gulabpura, Gangapur Co-operative Spinning Mills Ltd, Gangapur, Ganganagar Sahkari Spinning Mills Ltd, Hanumangarh and Gulabpura Cotton Ginning & Pressing Sahakari Samiti Ltd., Gulabpura.
Kataria said the accumulated debt of the four co-operatives is said to be to the tune of 100 crore while due to the employees in terms of salaries and other allowances is around Rs 9 crore. The government first had to accommodate the employees working at these cooperatives and settle their dues before taking any drastic decision on the future of the organization.
