Itanagar: The IAF has halted the construction of a 20-km stretch of Trans Arunachal Highway (TAH) passing through Ziro in Lower Subansiri district, citing flight safety reasons.
Work on a portion of the road parallel to ALG was stopped midway as the IAF has not provided a No Objection Certificate. The authorities have been seeking a realignment of the highway, instead.

An IAF team had held a meeting with the secretary, Union ministry of road transport and highway, and other officials on May 18, 2015, to discuss the issue. They had directed the authorities concerned to carry out realignment of the portion of the TAH that passes through Ziro valley. Now, the portion of TAH is lying ideal for want of IAF NOC.
This has been thought to reflect the state government's and the Centre's apathy.
