Indian army lost 256 men in various operations in last four years

AGRA: Living up to their motto ‘Service before Self’, in last four years, Indian army lost 256 bravehearts, who made the supreme sacrifice during various counterinsurgency operations and offensive tactical mission.
The maximum casualty of 85 men was reported in the year 2015.
According to army, maximum causality was reported from 6 Dogra regiment in the month of June in 2015, in which it lost 15 men in a deadly ambush in Manipur's Chandel district.In the incident total 20 soldiers died.
Apart from Dogra, various units of Rashtriya Rifles deployed in Jammu and Kashmir lost 19 men, followed by Gorkha Rifles, Garhwal Rifles, Rajputana Rifles, Army Service Corps Battalion, 28 Punjab and 9 Para (Special Forces) in 2015.
As per figure issued by ministry of defence, 61 army personnel were killed in 2012 and the number decreased to 54 in 2013. But in 2014, the casualty rose to 56.
Of the total number martyrs in last four years, four soldiers belong to Mathura and Agra, who laid down their lives during counterinsurgency operations and offensive tactical mission in Jammu and Kashmir.
The martyrs were Rifleman Samod Singh of Bhavanpur village of Goverdhan, Lance Naik Hemraj Singh of Shernagar Bangar, Mathura, Lance Naik Govind Singh Mehta of Shaheednagar Agra and Naik Harpal Singh of Kagraul, Agra.
Last month, on July 30, Sepoy Babloo Singh, a resident of Mathura, was kiiled in an encounter with terrorists near the Line of Control in Nowgam Sector, near Srinagar.
