Nagaland Legislators’ Forum on AIDS focuses on Churches to control AIDS

Kohima, Aug 27 (UNI) The Nagaland Legislators’ Forum on AIDS (NLFA) has informed it has “unanimously” resolved that Church would play a pivotal role for prevention of HIV in the State through extensive advocacy programmes.

In a press statement, the State Consultant of the NLFA Dr. Vinito L. Chichi stated the forum intends to reach out to all tribal churches in towns and villages. In this effort all executive secretaries of 20 Baptist Association and four associate members will be involved, while other denominations would be covered in a phased manner, NLFA stated. The forum said it would also extend advocacies among other faith based organizations such as Hindu and Muslim communities. The NLFA stated the resolution was a revival of Nagaland Baptist Church Council policy of March 16, 2007, which was long overdue for implementation.
