DAV College felicitates softball players

AMRITSAR: BBK DAV College for Women welcomed two of its students Harpreet Kaur and Gagandeep Kaur, who participated in the 15th World Women Softball Championship, held at Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, from 15 to 24 July.

BBK DAV College for Women welcomed two of its students Harpreet Kaur and Gagandeep Kaur, who participated in the 15th World Women Softball Championship, held at Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, from 15 to 24 July.

The two players were a part of the Indian team, which participated in the World Championship.

While congratulating the students, Principal, Dr Pushpinder Walia, said it was a proud moment for the college as the players represented India at an international platform. She added that college had always provided adequate facilities to players. She said the players were awarded cash prize of Rs 15,000, a trophy and equipment.

Sweety Bala, head, Department of Physical Education, along with other staff members said the players had set an example for the upcoming sportspersons, who should be encouraged and given equal opportunity to grow and excel in their respective game. “The recent feat of girls in Rio will be a motivation for our young players to keep getting better and stay focused,” she added.
