SVS renovates various damaged shrines in Valley : Dr Razdan

Jammu, Aug 26: Samajik Vikas Sanasthan (SVS)  working for welfare of the society was established with the aim of retrieval, repairs and renovation of damaged religious places, temples and shrines in Kashmir valley in 2010.
This was stated in the press conference by Dr Maharaj Krishan Razdan, patron of the organisation and its chairman Kuldeep Raina. They said though Kashmir is famous for its religious places which are revered by all but most of them have suffered a heavy damage in 27 year long turmoil while the land of various shrines was encroached.
They said the SVS has taken responsibility of renovation, repairs and retrieval of these temples/shrines besides, making efforts in removal of encroachments.
While giving details, they said during past five years, the Trust has renovated and reconstructed various damaged shrines in Valley.
These include Peer Pandit Padshah (Reshi Peer) Asthapan at Ali Kadal, Srinagar.  Gopi Tirath near Nishat Srinagar, Shiv Temple at Vichar Nag, Shri Nandkishore Asthapan Seer Jagir Sopore besides, number of other religious shrines and temples were renovated and up-gradation in the Valley, they added.
While some additional rooms were constructed at some religious shrines and temples, some damaged temples were also renovated and reconstructed besides the encroached land of these shrines and temples were restored, said Dr Razdan.
He said that Sansthan has decided to establish a professional college for weaker sections of the society and in this regard it appeals Government to allot the piece of land to it in Jammu. Besides, the Sansthan has entered into an understanding with Om Chandan Brahm-Putra Sanstha, Panjgrain Jagti for old age home.
Samajik Vikas Sanasthan has also requested people at large to donate to this Trust generously.
S L Bhan vice chairman of the Sansthan its general secretary M K Pandita and treasurer Arvind Koul were present in the press conference.
