Fund scam: Tussle between Jamiat-e-Ahle Hadees 's rival groups continues
HYDERABAD: The tussle between rival groups of the Jamiat-e-Ahle Hadees continued on Friday with the splinter group, Jamiat-e-Ahle Hadees Hyderabad Secunderabad (JAH), accusing the parent body of large scale corruption and siphoning of funds to the tune of several crores.
Addressing media persons at the Press Club in Somajiguda, state president of the splinter group, Mohammed Minhajuddin claimed that his panel has raised its voice against "large scale" corruption of the main body and questioned its transparency with regards to collection of funds and their expenditure.
"Why do they (main body) need over Rs 5 crore for the construction of a mosque? They have said that they used Rs 60 lakh for excavation of land in Chilkalguda. This land measures about 450 square yards and is intended to be used for the construction of a mosque affiliated to it. We do not believe that so much money is required," Minhajuddin said.
Claiming that the parent body controls as many as 125 masjids in the city, the members of the splinter group alleged no proper records were being maintained and implied that costs were being inflated. Treating the construction of a mosque in Aman Nagar - A in Talabkatta as a case in point, Minhajuddin said, "The size of the plot is 200 square yards. And the cost being shown for the construction of the masjid is Rs 95 lakh. In that area, and for a plot that size, is the cost justified," he questioned.
President of the splinter group, Habeeb Abdul Qadir said that parent body has been collecting funds for construction of mosques by means of issuing recommendation letters. This, he claimed, is not ethical even as he maintained that his organisation does not issue such requests for funds. He also said that the parent body has not constructed any eidgah for Salafis nor has it bought burial spaces.
When contacted, general secretary of the parent group, Shafiq Alam Khan said, "A case is being heard in the court. The outcome of the case will be decided as per the law of the land. It will not be proper to comment on the issue."
