If reports are to be believed, Yamaha India will be launching the naked version of the R3, known as the MT-03 in India soon. Reports suggest that the Japanese two wheeler manufacturer will launch the MT-03 during the upcoming festive season. The news comes more than a year after the R3 was launched in the country.

The MT-03 was unveiled at the 2015 EICMA show held at Milan in the month of November. Features on the roadster include a single pod headlamp and a single piece handle-bar as opposed to the twin pod headlights and clip on handle bar on the R3. The motorcycle also comes equipped with a digital-analogue console, dual channel ABS (unconfirmed for India) and a fuel tank mounted air intake.

Powering the model is the same 321cc liquid cooled engine from its sibling, the R3. This motor is tuned to produce a power output of 41hp at 10,750 rpm while the peak torque of 30 Nm comes up at 9000 rpm. This engine comes mated to a six speed transmission that sends power to the rear wheel. The MT-03 will be lighter than its sibling, courtesy the absence of the fairing.

The MT-03 is likely to be priced below the Rs. 3 lakh bracket when it arrives in India through the CKD route. Its fully faired sibling the R3, on the other hand; retails for a price tag of Rs. 3.26 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi). Once launched, the model will take on the likes of the Benelli TNT300, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the upcoming BMW G310R.
