Blast injures factory worker

A worker of a factory in Nanjangud Industrial Area was seriously injured after a chemical-filled cylinder exploded on Thursday.The worker has been admitted to a private hospital here.

Mysuru: A worker of a factory in Nanjangud Industrial Area was seriously injured after a chemical-filled cylinder exploded on Thursday. The worker has been admitted to a private hospital here.
According to police, a cylinder filled with a chemical at Jubilant exploded on Thursday afternoon, injuring Kandhachami, 28, a worker and a native of Tamil Nadu.
He was taken to Nanjangud Government Hospital before being shifted to a private hospital in Mysuru. Some other workers, who sustained minor injuries, were admitted to other hospitals.
The blast sound was so loud that it was heard by people who reside in far-off villages in the taluk - Kallali, Korahundi, Katvadipura and Chamalapurahundi.
After learning about the incident, tahsildar Basavaraju Chigari visited the factory and collected details about the blast and the injured persons. The factory authorities told the tahsildar that soon after the blast, they took measures to douse the fire and brought the situation under control. Basavaraju directed the authorities to provide details about the incident in writing.
When contacted, Nanjangud DSP Divya Sara Thomas said that due to the blast in the factory, a worker was injured, and he has been admitted to a hospital. Nanjangud police are investigating the case.
Car gutted in Mandya
A car parked outside the owner's house was set on fire by miscreants in Dalavayikodihalli village of Malavalli taluk on Tuesday night.
Basavaraju who owned a Maruti Swift car filed a case. In his complaint he claimed that his car was new. "There has to be some personal enmity behind this incident. We will solve it," a police officer said. A case has been registered in Halagur police station.
