Jaipur: Deaths of infants in Ajmer's JLN hospital in May has prompted health authorities to take new measures for improving healthcare facilities in sick newborn care units (SNCU).
Now, health department has decided to use 'Bempu digital device', which is an equipment to detect infection and hypothermia among infants immediately.
National Health Mission (NHM) director (state) Navin Jain said the devices will be used on the pilot project basis.
It will be used in Udaipur, Dungarpur, Sagwara and six identified primary centres to study the usefulness of the device.
Officials said that hypothermia and infections are the major causes of death of infants in the state. The infants who are sick need immediate medical attention. There are 36 sick new born care units in the state, which are providing treatment to infants with serious health condition.
