GU HoD to get French govt honour
PANAJI: Head of French and Francophone Studies at Goa University, Anuradha Wagle, will be honoured by the French government with the Chevaliar de l’Ordre des Arts et Lettres (The Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters). Wagle is being awarded for her contribution towards promotion of Indo-French ties.
Ambassador of France in India, Alexandre Ziegler, has announced that the award will be conferred by the minister of culture and communication in France.

In 2009, Wagle was awarded the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Palmes Academiques at the French Embassy, New Delhi. She has been working for the promotion of the language at the national and international level.
Waglewho holds an MPhil and a PhD in translation also organized the first international French Congress in Goa, besides co-authoring and publishing a book in French about India. Translation studies, linguistics and inter-cultural perspectives in French language teaching are her areas of interest.
Wagle was the vice-president of the Fédération Internationale des Professeurs de Français (2012-2016), president of the Asia Pacific Commission of the Federation (2008-2012) and president of the Indian Association of Teachers of French ( 2006-2013).
