Big B made sure I was comfortable: Regina Cassandra

Regina talks about her upcoming movies and her recent wardrobe malfunction.

Regina Cassandra is gearing up for her upcoming movie Jyo Achuthananda, which has been directed by Srinivas Avasarala.

The actress was supposed to work with him in Oohalu Gusagusa Lade, but due to busy schedules she had to let go of the chance.

“That happened ages ago when I was busy promoting Routine Love Story. When he narrated the script, he had not found a producer and by the time he got one, I got busy with four films,” says Regina.

Talking about her role in Jyo Achuthananda, which revolves around a triangle love story, the actress says, “I play a girl-next-door. When Srini narrated the script, I kept laughing and even the shooting was fun.”

She adds, “I was able to relate to Jyo, my character. I believe every girl can relate to her. This is the most fun character I have played so far. Jyo is going to be a memorable character for me.”

On her co-star Nara Rohit, who was earlier paired opposite her in Shankara, Regina says, “I already knew him well. I am happy that the film (Shankara) is releasing now. It’s the remake of a Tamil film and it is being made in Bollywood as Akira. Rohit even came to me and explained why I should play the role of Jyo. He is an amazing co-star,” she says.

The actress is also excited about her Bollywood debut Aankhen 2, where she will star alongside Amitabh Bachchan.

“It all happened in four to five days. They saw my photographs and asked me to come down, we did a photoshoot and I got selected,” she says, talking about how she bagged the role.

On the rumours that it was Ileana who recommended her name for the film, Regina says, “No, this is not true.”

All gaga about Amitabh Bachchan, with whom she shares screen in the movie, Regina says, “It was a busy day as we all had to do rehearsals and I didn’t get a chance to introduce myself to Amitabh (Bachchan). The next day before the event started, he came to me, introduced himself and shook my hand. He is a very sweet and down-to-earth person. He made sure that I was very comfortable,” she says adding, “After the performance, he (Amitabh) told me that he faced a technical problem during his performance at the event where the movie was announced. Then he asked me if I faced any problem as well. I told him ‘Sir, you just had a technical malfunction, but I had other malfunctions (wardrobe)’.”

However, working in Bollywood doesn’t mean that she is taking her time off from South. “I am quite busy in the South with three Telugu films and two Tamil films ready to release. The shoot of Aankhen 2 will start only next year and the film will release on Diwali, 2017,” she adds.
