TV actress Maninee Mishra, who will be playing Mandodari in Delhi’s Lav Kush Ramlila, was in town recently for the press conference of the Ramlila. Talking to us about the capital, she said that she loves the city as it has a unique character to it. "I am a Delhi girl. I was born and brought up here. I did my schooling from Delhi Public School, Mathura Road and completed my graduation from Sri Venkateswara College. I used to live in Kaka Nagar near Pandara road and I love the area around Rashtrapati Bhavan because I have spent most of my childhood there as my mother was a bureaucrat," she said.
Talking about her college days, she added, "I think I was the first girl in my college to wear torn jeans and tied-up shirts.
I remember there were small restaurants near South Campus and we loved them. Now I know that there are more cafes in the area, but humare time pe itne cafes kahan thay!"
Maninee, who has been part of TV shows like 'Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin', 'Saathiya – Pyar ka Naya Ehsaas' and many more, shared with us that TV is going through a new cycle. "Now, we have naagins and makkhis on TV. I don’t understand it. I don’t disrespect it, but I don’t get it. At the end of the day, I feel shows like 'Tamanna' and 'Dahleez' are my kind of shows. I don’t really know what is working nowadays, but I hope we get out of makkhis and naagins soon!"
