Spy Pics: Ssangyong Rexton Spotted Testing Ahead Ahead Of Debut
Mahindra subsidiary Ssangyong is hard at working testing the next-generation Rexton ahead of the SUV's debut at the Paris Motor Show in late September.
The Rexton is expected to be seen in pre-production guise at the Paris Show while the final production variant will make its global bow at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
The latest spy pictures shot in southern Europe reveal a test mule with some rather heavy duty cladding attempting to hide the SUV's design features. However, what they can't hide is the conventional boxy shape of the next-gen Rexton.
Both the front and rear bumpers look quite chunky while the wheel arches look quite pumped up as well. At the rear, the tail lamps are quite reminiscent of the ones seen on Ssangyong's 2013 LIV-1 concept.
Inside, the Rexton is expected to borrow from the Tivoli's style guide and will feature a new dashboard with Ssangyong's latest infotainment system.
The next-gen Rexton will sit on a brand new ladder-frame chassis that will accommodate both front and all-wheel systems.
Powering the new Rexton at launch will be the 2.2-litre engine from the current Rexton. Later on, a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine is also expected to be offered.
