A 37-year-old man has appeared before Dublin District Court at the Courts of Criminal Justice charged in connection with a drugs seizure in Castleknock, in Dublin, earlier this week.

David Tennyson, with an address at Carrigallen Drive in Finglas, was charged with possession of drugs and possession of drugs for sale or supply.

Gardaí seized six kilos of cocaine, with an estimated street value of over €300,000, during a raid on an apartment at Auburn Park in Castleknock on Monday night.

Detective William Armstrong, of the Drugs and Organised Crime Unit, gave evidence to the court of charge, arrest and caution.

Gardaí objected to bail due to what was described as the seriousness of the charges against Mr Tennyson, and the nature of the evidence against him.

Detective Armstrong said there was also a further serious charge pending against the accused.

Judge Gráinne O'Neill remanded Mr Tennyson in custody with consent to bail.

The judge said there was no evidence he would interfere with witnesses, or that he was a flight risk.

He will appear in court again next Thursday, 1 September.
