Traders' body lauds govt step to check etailers violating FDI rules

New Delhi, Aug 25 (UNI) Demanding proper investigation against the e-commerce portal in connection with alleged violation of FDI norms, the leading traders’ body CAIT today lauded Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s step for constituting a grievance cell to deal with the matters.
Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) National President BC Bhartia and Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal said in a joint statement, “It is noteworthy to mention that CAIT had filed a complaint with DIPP on August 10, 2016 alleging gross violation of FDI policy by e commerce portals by announcing sales on their respective portals through big media campaign. "
Both Mr Bhartia and Mr Khandelwal said, “Though e portal companies were invited by the government to deliberate on the issues arising out of the complaint but so far no opportunity is given to us to place our view point.”
The CAIT has also asked the Commerce Minister to look in to all aspects of the complaint and take effective remedial measures and before arriving at any conclusion, due opportunity should be given to the traders to put forth their view points, it added.
