ALLAHABAD: Bahujan Samaj Party national president Mayawati would be addressing a mega divisional level rally on Parade Ground in Allahabad on September 4. She would be accompanied by top party leaders in the meet to be organised to establish contact with its core vote banks of Maurya, Shakya, Saini and Kushwaha.
The move comes close on the heels of a similar attempt by Bharatiya Janata Party national president Amit Shah, UP state president Keshav Prasad Maurya, chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and Janta Dal (United) president Nitish Kumar in the past two months.
The rally is also expected to mobilise Maurya voters after party leader Swami Prasad Maurya joined BJP. Maurya belonged to neighbouring Pratapgarh district.
BSP office bearers claimed around five lakh party workers from four districts, including Allahabad, Varanasi, Kaushambi and Pratapgarh of Allahabad division, would be attending the meeting. Sector presidents here claimed that recent attacks on Dalits across the country would dominate the issues that Mayawati would address in the rally.
Office-bearers at booth level of each of the four districts have been instructed to ensure a crowd of around five lakh in the rally, said party's Allahabad sector president Rajkumar Gautam.
Door-to-door campaigns have already been started in villages dominated by Maurya, Shakya, Saini, Kushwaha in all the four districts.
