BHEL-HPVP supplies titanium domes to VSSC

VISAKHAPATNAM: Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited, Heavy Plates & Vessels Plant (BHEL-HPVP) Visakhapatnam is supplying Titanium Alloy Elliptical Domes for Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Indian Space Research Organization, Trivandrum. These Titanium Elliptical Domes form a critical part in stage-4 Propellant Tank of Satellite Launching Vehicle PSLV, said a release.
Concerted joint efforts of BHEL HPVP and VSSC have resulted in successful processing of first batch of Pre-machined Titanium Alloy Elliptical Domes for VSSC.The tools and process technology developed at BHEL HPVP for hot forming, heat treatment and machining of theses components yielded value addition and cost savings, the release added. At a function held at BHEL-HPVP, general manager (I/c) J Govindaswamy handed over the joint process documents for the pre-machined titanium alloy domes to VSSC deputy director PV Venkatakrishna on Wednesday.
