Uttarkashi District Magistrate Dipendar Kumar Chaudhry today directed officials concerned to identify spots and then initiate digging of two pits under the Kayakalp Cleanliness Scheme for medical waste disposal on the District Hospital premises. He chaired a meeting of the district health management committee at the District Hospital in Uttarkashi.

The District Magistrate directed officials to initiate the process of the construction of the new main gate for the District Hospital. The decision of placing two security guards for the safety of women staff during emergency duties at night was taken in the meeting. He also asked the hospital authorities to make a track for the parking of emergency service vehicles. He asked the officials to prepare an estimate for construction of a garder bridge to link the trauma centre with the main hospital. The Chief Medical Superintendent informed the members at the meeting that only one tender for the purchase of medicines was received during the tendering process.

He directed the officials to place the tender once again. He told the medical staff to buy X-ray films at government rates without any delay. Gangotri MLA Vijay Pal Sajwan in the meeting said the neglect of patients by medical staff would not be tolerated.

Sajwan said he paid Rs 4,000 for the treatment of Raghu s/o Kaalia for buying medicine when he did not receive the money from the Chief Minister Health Insurance scheme. In another case he doled out Rs 5,000. Following the meeting the MLA Gangotri inspected various wards of the District Hospital jointly with the other officials.
