Cow vigilantes remanded in judicial custody

RAJPURA (PATIALA): A court here remanded Gau Raksha Dal chief Satish Kumar and three of his arrested aides in judicial custody for 14 days on Wednesday . Satish Kumar and two of his aides, Arun Kumar and Kapil Kumar, were arrested from Uttar Pradesh on Sunday on charges of sodomy, extortion, and abduction. The third aide, Gurpreet, was arrested from Kurukshetra, Haryana, on Tuesday.
The accused were booked on August 8. The accused were on Wednesday presented before judicial magistrate (first class) H S Sindhiya in the morning. The next date of hearing is September 6.
According to police, Satish Kumar and his aides had harrassed two Muslim cattle traders from UP and sodomized them. Police are using video clips that gone viral on the internet as evidence in the case.
Superintendent of police Rajinder Singh Sohal told TOI that police had sufficient evidence to prosecute the accused. Three witnesses have so far come forward to record their statements in the case. The accused have been sent to Central Jail, Patiala.
The cow vigilantes were booked after Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on August 6 spoken out against cow vigilantes and called them anti-social elements.
