WFFL calls for immediate increase of Latvian defense budget

The World Federation of Free Latvians (WFFL) has urged the Latvian government to deliver on its commitment to NATO and to immediately increase Latvia’s defense budget to at least 2 per cent of GDP. In a statement issued on the eve of Aug. 23, the anniversary of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact signed by Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union in 1939 to divide Eastern Europe between themselves, thus sentencing the three Baltic States to Soviet occupation that lasted for 50 years, the WFFL and its members — Latvian organisations across the world — reaffirmed their willingness...
