1 civillian dead, 9 CRPF personnel injured in fresh clashes in J&K’s Pulwama district

In a fresh round of clash in the Valley, a youth on Wednesday succumbed to death due to the wounds inflicted upon him by pellet guns. Clashes between protestors and security forces in the Pulwama district of South Kashmir. The victim identified as Aamir Bashir was declared dead when he was rushed to the SMHS Hospital. A grenade attack was also carried out on the police party in Pulwama, which led to five people being injured by it. So far, nine security personnel have been injured in the attack, confirms police.

The youth was a resident of Pohu village in Pulwama district. With his death, the toll has now climbed to 66. Soon after Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani’s death in an encounter, the Valley became a spot for various clashes between protestors and armed forces. Due to which, over 60 people lost their lives while many are yet to recover from the injuries caused by pellet guns and otherwise. Apart from the violence, the Valley has been under a lockdown for almost 45 days, which not only has hampered the normal lives but has also provoked as the Opposition of Kashmir term it, a need for “political solution” and not just an administrative one.

The incident took place on the day when Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is on a two-day visit to the Valley. His purpose of visit is to hold talks with various stakeholders in Kashmir and to resolve the turbulence prevailing there. “I will be staying at the Nehru Guest House. Those who believe in Kashmiriyat, Insaniyat and Jamhooriyat are welcome,” he tweeted before heading for Kashmir.
