Admission process for FYJC extended

Mumbai, Aug 24 (UNI) The admission procedure for First Year Junior College (FYJC) students was extended to the end of August, causing much of a hassle to colleges as well as students who have already secured an admission. With the entire system dependent on online admissions, students and parents had quite some trouble enrolling their wads and getting admissions in their preferred college.
The State Education Department decided to conduct three special rounds for admissions. The special round two of admissions got over yesterday, with 22,273 students allocated out of about 62,000 available seats. Out of the 22,273 students, 1,440 have been allotted seats in Arts stream, 6,452 have been allotted seats in Science and 14,381 allotted in Commerce. According to officials from the education department, the trend of maximum applications in Commerce stream has been quite the trend now in Mumbai.
When the special round admissions were in phase one, more than 2 lakh 30 thousand students applied for about 2 lakh 75 thousand seats in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Of these, over 1 lakh seats were left vacant in the first round.
