Jaipur: The Rajasthan High court on Tuesday asked the state government whether it wants to pursue the contempt petition against Gujjar leaders for violation of court orders during the reservation agitation.
The single bench of Justice Mahesh Chandra Sharma asked this while hearing the contempt petition against Gujjar leaders.
Additional advocate general Rajendra Prasad who appeared for the government said the matter concerns a social issue.
When the court enquired if the government wants to drop the charges of contempt, the additional advocate general was evasive and sought more time to respond. The court said that it would decide the matter after getting a definite reply from the state government. The high court, thereafter, posted the matter for further hearing on September 12.
