AGRA: For the second time in less than one year, morphed obscene photos of 50 college girls, majority from Vrindavan, depicting them as “call girls”, have been allegedly circulated on the social media, causing extreme distress to the victims and their families.
According to police, the faces of the girls have been morphed and superimposed on nude and semi-nude pictures and circulated on WhatsApp with their names, addresses and the “rates charged” by them.
Some of victims presumably hail from Lucknow and Patna also, as per the addresses circulated on the messaging app.
According to information a similar incident had happened in Nov 2015 also. The father of one of the victims, who reportedly went into a depression after learning about her morphed photos, had lodged a complaint but no one was arrested.
Dr Laxmi Gautam, a social worker and founder president of Kanak Dhara Foundation, an NGO working for women, confirmed that such photos were circulated earlier in November. Gautam said the parents of one of the victims had lodged complaint to police and the then SSP, Mathura, had directed the cyber cell to look into the matter but no one was caught.
A priest from Vrindavan, who had lodged the earlier complaint, on Tuesday blamed the police’s callous response to his complaint as the reason for the crime being committed again. He said had the police caught the culprits these girls and their families could have been saved of the humiliation that he had faced.
When contacted, SP city, Mathura, Alok Priyadarshi, said a case has been registered under relevant sections and the cyber cell is investigating the matter. He assured that action would be taken to trace and book the culprits behind this scam.
