Kareena Kapoor opts out of Veere Di Wedding? Untrue, says co-star Sonam Kapoor

Ever since the news of Kareena Kapoor Khan's pregnancy came out, her film Veere Di Wedding has been in jeopardy. There was buzz that the 35-year-old actor might opt out of the film as she is in her second trimester and her health doesn't permit her to take up any work right now.

But her co-star Sonam Kapoor has rubbished all such rumours and said it is all untrue and just gossip.

"Honestly, this is just a gossip. We are about to start shooting of certain portions of the film. However, most of the film will be shot in April post-delivery. It's completely untrue and irresponsible way of writing news. I didn't expect that," said Sonam, who will share screen space with Kareena for the first time.

On Monday, it was reported that Kareena, who is expecting her first child with husband Saif Ali Khan in December, has opted out of the movie due to her pregnancy.

"I think in general this has been a patriarchal society, we have a lot of uneven ground for actresses, sportswomen. The women in our society go through obstacles as they are judged the way they look or speak or whether they are pregnant. We are not looked at as strong and capable people. I think it's very very unfair and hope things are going to get better," she told IANS.

Inspired from Hollywood film, The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants, Veere Di Wedding is about four friends on a trip from Delhi to Europe. The film also stars Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania. The film will be directed by Shashanka Ghosh and jointly produced by Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor.
