2 killed, 6 injured in hit-and-run case in Vijayawada

In yet another case of hit-and-run, two persons were killed and six injured when a speeding car hit the road divider and rammed against the victims.

The incident took place on the National Highway near Benz Circle in Vijayawada on Tuesday when the victims were returning after taking a holy dip in the Krishna river. The victims had come from Shrikakulam district to attend Krishna Pushkaralu (Kumbh).

The entire incident was recorded on CCTV camera.

While two persons died on spot, the remaining injured were rushed to a government hospital. Three of the six injured are believed to be in critical condition.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief over the incident and announced an ex gratia of Rs 3 lakhs to each of the victim's family.
