Dhanbad: After a successful run in Ramgarh, Hazaribagh and Koderma districts in the past month, Giridih DC Umashankar Singh flagged off the 'Digital India' van from the district collectorate building on Tuesday morning.
The van aims to raise awareness of the Centre's Digital India programme and its benefits to residents living in the interior parts of the district.

"We want to highlight government schemes and plans apart from online services meant for residents. Locals need to be made aware of the services available to them. Once they learn of the programme's benefits, they will not have to run from pillar to post to obtain their certificates or avail of other services," said DC Singh.
The van will travel to nine of the district's 13 blocks.
"Our services are also available through e-Samadhan and Disha," said district information officer Shiv Banerjee, adding that Giridih bagged the first prize in the state for creating awareness through the Digital India campaign last year.
"The Digital India campaign is aimed at creating awareness among the masses. We have broadened our views and centralised activities to ensure locals are educated about online and other relevant services," Banerjee said.
