BOSS arrives in SP nate’s car

Times News Network
Agra: It was a reel come real life scene at the Agra collectorate when a Toyota Fortuner screeched to a halt in the premises with a number plate that just said – BOSS. On closer scrutiny, it looked the font had been tweaked and it was actually car’s registration number – 8055. Among residents of western UP, such antics aren’t uncommon but the occupant of the car turned out to be equally uncommon too.
Advisor to Uttar Pradesh transport department Parvender Yadav alias Lalla Bhai, who was using this state government owned SUV with a fancy number plate, is a relative of none other than UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav.

Lalla Bhai, a resident of Shikohabad who unsuccessfully contested the zila panchayat member election last year, is the maternal uncle (mama) of Mainpuri MP Tej Pratap Singh Yadav, who is Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav’s grandnephew.
When TOI spoke with Parvender Yadav, he said, “It’s not 'BOSS', but the vehicle registration number 8055, though I will now remove it to avoid any confusion.”
A senior official in traffic police, who pleaded anonymity for obvious reasons, said, “Such fancy registration numbers on cars create confusion in the mind of cops, especially if the vehicle is involved in any criminal case. The owner of the car can be penalized.”

“If caught with fancy number plates, the offenders are challaned for Rs 100 and Rs 300 if he/she is caught second time with the fancy font,” the official said.
A closer scrutiny by TOI about the nata’s car number revealed that it actually belongs to a two-wheeler owner in Lucknow.
According to Vahan registration database, the number is of a Yamaha FZ-16 motorcycle owned by one Mohd Hasarat Lari of Lucknow.
Speaking with TOI on the condition of anonymity, a very senior official of UP transport department said, “In no circumstances, two vehicles can have the same registration number. Neither is anyone allowed to use fancy font. The registration number should be very clear to read without the scope of a confusion or doubt.”
