Ryan Rhodes says we haven't seen the best of Kell Brook

Kell Brook has been short-changing himself at welterweight and will thrive against Gennady Golovkin, says friend Ryan Rhodes.

IBF world welterweight champion Brook (36-0-KO25) takes on WBA Super, WBC and IBF world middleweight king Golovkin (35-0-KO32) at The O2 on September 10 and although Rhodes was as surprised as anyone when the fight was announced, he believes Brook can cause an even greater shock on the night.

Sheffield's Rhodes told Sky Sports: "I was massively shocked [when I heard]. To be fair, Kell needed that big fight but I don't think anybody expected it being as big as GGG.

"I've said it to everyone. People keep asking me on social media and in the streets and I honestly don't think we've seen the best of Kell Brook. Being at this weight will only benefit Kell Brook.

"Kell is a massive welterweight. I know personally what weight Kell comes down from and I think we'll see a different animal. Down at welterweight, I don't think we see the full potential of Kell Brook."
