Emma Jane Moore was victim of Dumfries town centre fire

Police have identified a 39-year-old woman who died in a fire in a flat in Dumfries town centre.

Emma Jane Moore was found in the property in English Street and taken to Dumfries Infirmary where she was pronounced dead.

Emergency services were called out to the incident at about 19:45 on Monday.

The area around Dobie's Wynd and Munches Street at the back of the flats remained cordoned off while investigations continued.

The procurator fiscal has been informed and a joint police and fire and rescue service investigation is under way.
