A budding artist? Participate in the Camlin art contest and win a trip to Europe

The contest is free for any professional or student interested in painting. The grand prize winners will not only win a cash prize and get to exhibit their work in Mumbai, but also be taken on an all-expense paid trip to Europe.

Drawing and painting competitions have always been a part of our childhood. And if one remembers such competitions, the name that first pops up in our head is that of Camlin. Yes, Camlin Art and Drawing Competition, which gave us many fond memories in school, has now initiated a similar competition for adults.

Camel Art Foundation (CAF) – the philanthropic wing of Kokuyo Camlin Ltd, has launched the Camel Art Foundation 2016 contest, inviting online participation in the contest. The contest is open to both professionals and students, and registration is free.

There are two categories – one for professionals and the other is for students. Each participant can share a maximum of two entries. According to the rules, an artist is allowed to use four mediums of colours – oil, acrylic, pastels and watercolours. Each entry is to be submitted individually on their website (www.camelartfoundation.com). The last date for receiving online entries is September 30, 2016.

CAF, which promotes art and is dedicated towards providing a platform for budding artists to showcase their talent and work, has not only promised cash for the winners but also will organise an exhibition of the winning and selected artworks. But the best part of the contest is that the Grand Prize winners will be taken on an all-expense paid trip to Europe to visit art galleries and museums.

From the entries received, 16 national winners will be shortlisted from both the categories. The winners will undergo a Skype interview to judge their portfolio too. From whom, the Grand Prize winners will be selected.

Festive offer

The exhibition of prize-winning and selected artworks will be held at the prestigious Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai, during January 3-9, 2017.

In the Professional category, four national cash awards of Rs1 lakh each, one per medium, will be awarded, while in the Students category, there are 12 national cash awards, three per medium – the first prize winner per medium will get Rs50,000 and two Best Entry prizes in each medium will get Rs21,000 each.
