    Gionee has launched its latest selfie-focused smartaphone S6s in India.

    Priced at Rs 17,999 the handset will be exclusively available on Amazon.

    The high point of the smartphone is its 8MP front camera which promises to offer perfect selfies.

    In terms of specifications, Gionee S6s features a 5.5-inch Full HD display with 1920x1820 pixel resolution.

    The smartphone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system and is powered by 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek processor.

    The handset offers 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB by installing a microSD card.

    The S6s sports an 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 8MP front camera with flash.

    The manufacturer has also incorporated various shooting modes and beautification feature for perfect selfies.

    It also comes equipped with a fingerprint sensor and offers 4G, LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS as connectivity options. The smartphone is backed by a 3,150 mAh battery.

    The handset will compete with the recently-launched camera phone from Oppo. The Oppo F1s comes with 16MP front camera and 13MP primary camera and is priced at Rs 17,990.

    A worthy successor

    In July, Gionee launched its Marathon M6 and M6 Plus smartphones in China. While the Gionee Marathon M6 features a 5000mAh battery, its larger sibling M6 Plus has a 6020mAh battery.

    Gionee says that the Marathon M6 houses 9V/2A dual-charge chip that allows for "faster, safer, cooler" charging of the battery.

    In addition, the M6 can also be used as a power bank for charging other devices. It can charge other smartphones 20% faster than regular power banks.
