This month 25 years ago, Formula 1 witnessed the first chapter of what would transpire to be the most successful career in the sport's history when a relatively unknown young German driver by the name of Michael Schumacher made his debut at the 1991 Belgian GP.
Although Schumacher failed to finish the race, his astonishing performance in qualifying, when he claimed seventh place on the grid for the Jordan team, amounted to immediate confirmation that a star had been born.
Gary Anderson and Mark Gallagher, in the Jordan team garage that memorable Spa weekend, tell the tale of how Schumacher's mid-season debut materialised and their first impressions of the then 22-year-old while Sky Sports F1's Martin Brundle and Johnny Herbert, both of whom were on the grid that August 1991 weekend, along with Damon Hill, the German's future title rival, reflect on the impact he made.
