Students protest outside AAP office

August 23, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 09:30 am IST - New Delhi:

Students of Delhi government-run Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalala on Monday staged a protest outside the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) office here over “abrupt” transfer of their principal.

Students and their parents sat outside the office saying they were protesting as principal Rajeshwari Kapri was shunted out at a time when she was doing a good job.

Altamash Khan, a student of Class XII, said that Ms. Kapri had brought about positive changes in the school: “She encouraged us to participate in sport and cultural activities… we don’t want her to be transferred.”

Class-X student Khsitij said the principal had not even completed “two years”.

Students added that her transfer order came on August 20 and she was asked to report to her new assignment on August 22.

“Girls can only study up to Class V in this (SBV, Rouse Avenue) school. The principal was working to have girls education till Class XII,” said Rehana Khan, a mother of one of the students.

When contacted, the Directorate of Education of the Delhi government refused to comment. — PTI
