JAMMU, Aug 22: On the 3rd day of the 4-day Multi-lingual Mushaira being organized by JKAACL with the support of the PG Department of Dogri, Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi, University of Jammu, a Punjabi Mushaira was organized in the K.L Saigal Hall, Jammu to commemorate with 70th Independence day supported by PG Deptt of Punjabi, University of Jammu over the function.
S. Ajeet Singh Mastana a Senior Punjabi Poet presided. Dr Baljit Kaur, PG Department of Punjabi, University of Jammu and Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary JKAACL were also in the presidium.
Delivering his speech as chief guest, Ajit Singh Mastana said that the Punjabi community also numbered high in sacrifices during the freedom struggle before independence and it is because of their sacrifices and also the literature being written to strengthen the movement played a vital role to compel the Britishers to leave India. While complimenting the participating poets, he said that the young writers who recited their mushiara deserve all praise and it’s a matter of great satisfaction that the future of Punjabi literature is in safe hands.
Earlier, delivering his welcome address, Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn highlighted a lengthy details of the Cultural as well as literary programmes being organised in connection with 70th Independence Day Celebrations-2016 at different venues. He disclosed that J&K Academy had arranged a very good cultural programme under the title Aaj Ka Yuva on August 15 at Mini Stadium Parade, Jammu showcasing the diverse culture of the region. He also made a mention that this Academy has also organised a beautiful Musical Bonanza in collaboration with Dean Students Welfare , University of Jammu . In addition to it , a four day multilingual Poetry festival on August 19, 20 and August 22, 23 is also underway in K. L. Saigal Hall and today is the 3rd day in which a Punjabi Mushaira is being presented.
Those who recited their poetry were:- Amar Singh Kuka, Ajeet Singh Mastana ,Bhagat Singh Zandiq Baljeet Singh Raina, Bhupinder Bhargav, Bachan Bharti, Desraj Danish, Dr. Monojit, Pyasa Anjum, Jasbir Singh Sarna, M.S.Kamra, Balwinder Singh, K.K.Shakir, Smt. Resham Kour Resham, Dr. Pritam Singh, Dr. Harbhajan Singh, Smt. Kusam, Kamaldeep Singh, Chanpreet Kour, Harshimran Kour, Manmeet Kour, Manjeet Singh and Amanpreet Kour.
The programme was conducted by S. Popinder Singh, Editor Punjabi and Vote of Thanks was delivered by Sh. Ashok Gupta, Editor Dogri JKAACL.
