Alice Cooper Is Running for President: ‘I Have Absolutely No Idea What to Do’

Thought the presidential election couldn’t get any crazier? Well, enter Alice Cooper.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has jokingly been running for president for years, and 2016 is no different. His slogan? “I can do nothing as well as they can do nothing,” he told CNN. His platform? “I have absolutely no idea what to do,” he added. Oh, and apparently his running mate is Tom Hanks — though we don’t think the actor is aware of this!

“I think the idea that I honestly have no platform is maybe the most honest thing I’ve heard in politics in a long time,” Cooper, 68, said. “I have absolutely no idea what to do, and if everybody said that, that would give me a guy I can vote for.”

Cooper continued: “Anyone who’s survived this long in rock ’n’ roll is beloved, so I’m a beloved presidential candidate. … Everybody seems to think the president’s going to press a button and everything’s gonna change. Not gonna happen. He has to go through so many people before anything can change — that really it’s a face-value guy. So, what face do you wanna see for the next four years on CNN? That’s basically what the president, I think, really is.”

Hey, there was a time when Donald Trump actually becoming the Republican presidential nominee seemed far-fetched … so who knows how this election could turn out?

Even though Cooper’s bid is a joke — “Look at Obama. He went into office as a rock star and he came out with gray hair. I don’t want that. I’m a rock singer,” he told CNN — he’s not the first celebrity to mull over a bid for office.

In 2012, comedian Roseanne Barr ran, trying to snag the Green Party’s presidential nomination. While she didn’t win, she actually ended up getting on the ballet on the Peace and Freedom Party ticket in three states. She got 67,000 votes and ended up in sixth place on Election Day.

And who could forget Kanye West’s announcement at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, where he declared he was going to run for president in 2020. Just think of all the places in the White House that Kim Kardashian could snap nude selfies!
